Physiotherapists treat all types of musculoskeletal problems such as back and neck pain, joint and tendon problems, sports injuries, sprains and strains. They can also provide symptom relief in arthritis and other degenerative conditions. The main approach used revolves around manual techniques such as soft tissue mobilisation, myofascial release and joint manipulation, as well as a programme of specific and graduated rehabilitation exercises. Other modalities such as electrotherapy and acupuncture are also used where appropriate.
